Job applications etiquette: does asking about flexibility before applying make you look bad?
SPECIFICS:
I live in Exeter, want to apply for a part-time job in Bristol. Would like the job, would not like to travel to Bristol 3 days in every week.
I'd like to find out if some/most of it can be done remotely. The wife reckons it would predispose them to think I wasn't committed before they ever saw my application/met me at interview, if I asked this question in advance.
I however know that flexible arrangements are very common in this sector - she comes from a background where this isn't the case so maybe she's chatting shit.
What do you pricks and fannies think?
