When you fill up the kettle to boil it, do you use the hot or the cold tap? I've always thought it should be the cold, as the hot tap comes from a Bad Pipe (cold tap comes from a Good Pipe.)

BUT I thought the process of boiling would sterilise the water and make it ok. So if you fill from the hot tap it will be safe AND will boil faster as you're already starting with hot-ish water?
