Ida (film)
Last Year's winner at the London Film Festival Official Competition, Ida, Pawel Pawlikowski's first in his native Poland, is finally given a proper release this Friday and it is excellent. I've seen it twice now and have been amazed by it both times (review on the way), but for now here's a proper one: http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/sep/18/pawel-pawlikowski-ida-warsaw-lost-guy-weird-city
It's set in the fallout from WWII, Poland where a young nun in a convent goes out to find her roots before being confirmed only to find she's actually Jewish and has no surviving family, but despite that synopsis it's still actually very funny and really beautiful to watch.
