The actual update takes up 1.1gb of space. wtf?

I currently have 180mb free. My phone says I have used 12.5gb. I have counted up all the apps and it totals about 9gb. How am I missing 3gb of space? Any ideas?

Pretty tempted to just smash my iPhone up rn.
