NFL Weekend 2 thread
So despite a largely embarrassing display off the field, Baltimore cleaned up pretty strongly on thursday night to kick off week 2. Here's the rest of the weekend:

ATLANTA FALCONS @ CINCINNATI BENGALS
Should be an interesting match this, Atlanta finally got that New Orleans monkey off their shoulders to come back for a win, while Cincy looked impressive in largely shutting out the Ravens last week. The difference this week for Atlanta however, is that where the Saints just try and score more than you, the Bengals have a tough, stout defence who at home should be able to stop an often-troubled when travelling Atlanta Falcons. While the Falcons receiver core is scary at worst, The Bengals have much more variety and should be able to pick up the win here. (by 7)

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS @ DENVER BRONCOS
After a fairly promising season, the Chiefs got off to a fairly horrendous start last week, and things aren't going to get any easier travelling up to Mile High. We all know how ruthless the Broncos are at home, a team now playing with extra daemons after their Superbowl embarrassment and this shouldn't really be any different, especially as known MDMA raver Wes Welker could still play if the players union and league approve a new drugs policy before kick off today (presumably meaning the league from now on is about to get 400% more psychedelic. KC get the suspeced Dwayne Bowe back, which will help, but it's hard to see past DEN by 7+

CHICAGO BEARS @ SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
San Francisco (properly) open it's new stadium to a prime time audience. Last time these two met Chicago were unbeaten yet humbled by San Fran, and tonight could look a bit similar. Chi town fell to one of the biggest upsets of week 1, losing at home to Buffalo, due to a messy run defense and Jay Cutler slinging the ball to any defender happy to have it. That doesn't bode well after the pick-massacre SF laid out in Dallas last week, who are still looking for that elusive 6th title. SF by 7

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES @ INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Philly evaded the greatest of all insults in week 1, nearly being humiliated by Jacksonville at home. Fortunately for them, they were playing Jacksonville, but other teams, such as Andrew Luck's Indy, won't be so forgiving. The Colts looked good against their former master in Peyton Manning, but didn't have enough to get the win. Here we find two similarly high-powered, fast paced offences, so we can expect this to be a shoot-out, given neither have great defences based on last week. This should be fairly close, but I'm going with the home team by a margin (by 3)
THE REST:
EARLIES:
ARIZONA CARDINALS @ NEW YORK GIANTS - Phewee the Giants stank out the place in week 1. While they shouldn't be quite as terrible at home, the Cardinals looked mighty impressive coming back from behind against a decent San Diego outfit - ARI by 4-5
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS - Here's a fairly embarrassing one, and a match against Jacksonville could well keep an account of themselves given Washington's troubles. Should be fairly high scoring given neither know what the noughts mean on the play-sheet, but it's always pretty difficult to bet ON the Jags (fair play to the person with them on this week's pick'em, you're a braver man than I) - WAS by 3
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS @ MINNESOTA VIKINGS - Now here's an interesting one. New England did not look themselves against Miami last week, and to some extent, neither did Minnie who were mighty impressive. Minnesota obviously have a pretty elephant in the room with the absence of Adrian Peterson this week having been arrested in a child abuse case, but as Baltimore proved on Thursday, sometimes playing at home after a big controversy is the best thing you need. On form, I'm going to stick my neck out and say the Vikes' steal this one (by 3)
DALLAS COWBOYS @ TENNESSEE TITANS - Christ, who knows with these two, two of the most consistently inconsistent teams in the league. Dallas were pretty poor at home to San Francisco last week, meanwhile Tennessee got off to an impressive start, who if they can build could well be onto one of their best starts to a season in years. Should be fairly high scoring, I just see given the teams its inevitable they end today on 1-1 a piece. DAL by 4-5
MIAMI DOLPHINS @ BUFFALO BILLS - Both these teams unexpectedly picked up a win against the supposed odds last week, and at the end of today one will be clear at the top of the AFC East... for now. While Buffalo were impressive in Chicago last week, they're another team that are difficult to bet on; Miami just seem to have more stability (despite a tumultuous off-season, which seems a distant memory now) and balance on their roster. Should be close, MIA by 3.
DETROIT LIONS @ CAROLINA PANTHERS - This should be a fun one as two relatively young and dynamic teams go at it. Detroit looked impressive, but then that's partly due to New York's incompetence (that Calvin Johnson TD is still making me chuckle in awe). Carolina have a much tougher defence, but there are parts still to be worked on otherwise. Similarly, Detroit are good against the run, so expect a lot of throwing both from Stafford and Newton. I'm giving it to Carolina based on being home, but there shouldn't be much in it. CAR by 3
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS @ CLEVELAND BROWNS - The Saints fell apart last week and for once couldn't outscore the Atlanta Falcons. Cleveland were good too apparently but as I explained already I didn't see much of week 1. While, as ever, Cleveland are one of those teams you just don't bet on, they have a good opportunity to make an account of themselves and cause an upset. Still going NO though, duh (by 7)
LATES:
ST. LOUIS RAMS @ TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS - Fuck knows, anyone?
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS @ SAN DIEGO CHARGERS - Seattle started as they mean to go on last week, dominating a tough Green Bay side. While travelling down the coast to San Diego won't be quite as forgiving, really, it's difficult to see how anyone is going to beat the Seattle team right now, as people are already talking repeat. SEA by 4-5
HOUSTON TEXANS @ OAKLAND RAIDERS - HOUSTON HAVE A DEFENCE AGAIN!!! But not much of an offence. Luckily for them, the Raiders are pathetic agains the run, and Arian Foster can still pull em out when he needs to. HOU by 4-5
NEW YORK JETS @ GREEN BAY PACKERS - Poor Jets fans, I can't think of a worse time to travel up to the probably already frozen tundra of Green Bay, than when they're coming off a beat-down in the opening game at Seattle. Could get a bit humiliating (GB by 7+)
And that's yer lot. I'm not sure yet what game I'm going to watch later but it's just nice to have it back innit. FOOTBALL!
