when old people call over the assistant and they say something like 'It won't even let me scan the item!' in this exasperated 'isn't technology hopeless' kind of tone, expecting the assistant to be on their side, but it's because they're being stupid and not following the rules of the self-service checkout. I just love how loads of old people immediately assume technology going wrong has nothing to do with them being rubbish with it.
