OK.....I am currently investigating Islam, but I've reached a bit of an impasse can you help
Apparently Muslim men should NOT wear their trousers below their ankles, but I can't quite work out why, there is references to it only being a crime if you are doing it out of arrogance or pride.
I hear you initial laughter, but let me explain, it was because although poor people might have dirty clothes, some rich arrogant people were dismissive an arrogant and allowed their clothes to 'drag in the dirt' because it didn't matter that they got dirty, cos they could just put on another set of clothes (they had loadsamoney and clothes) so this sort of behaviour became a sort of 'showing off' that you were wealthy. So I can see that there was a reason for making this a law.....THEN,
But here is the stickler for me, wearing trousers below the ankle is no longer done out of arrogance and pride........like many heirarchys I think that Islam needs to update rules to remain in the spirit of the original intent ........so for instance having artificially distressed jeans (when you are rich) IS a modern equivalent of wearing trousers below the ankle in a proud and arrogent way,

Also Shabby chic

I think this could also be deemed to be arrogant and proud, in its saying 'ooooh look, im sooo rich I can pretend to be poor and have stuff that might look like its falling apart, because I can easily just buy a load more of them'
so essentially I might have problems assimilating with islamic heirarchies, as i see only thing that could be updated.
does this make me a bad person? am I evil? or am I just striving for improvement and increased relevance?
