Doctor Who Series 8 excitement thread
Well I'm excited.
The spoiler free reviews yesterday all said it was very promising for the series. Clara finally starts to become a real person, Capaldi doesn't run anywhere, no hanky panky, slower paced with room to breathe, more drama, longer running time...
Basically everything Capaldi & Moffat said they wanted from this Doctor. Still feel like it might have been a good time for Moffat to stand aside as I can't see him ever beating the highs of the 50 year anniversary specials, but then I'm not sure who would take his place? Moffat has written loads of my favourite every episodes of Nu Who so if he calms it all down a bit and takes it in a new direction, I think it could be his finest hour. We will see, eh?
Have avoided all the spoilers about returning monsters, recurring characters, episode titles, etc so am looking forward to just sitting down and enjoying a new take. I think that's the thing I love about Who so much, the ability to change at a moments whim. You get a few stinkers, sure, but you also get great characters, attempts at drama other shows can't touch and the odd moment of genius.
You excited? Gonna miss Smith? Think Clara will do a Sarah Jane and go from a companion with one Doc no one overly rates to one they love with the regeneration? Had raised eyebrows at Capaldi's Pertwee-esque red cloak?
