Looking at getting a new TV (old one very ancient and almost packed in) and didn't realise just how huge they now seem to be!

Currently have a 26" which is perfectly adequate for our living room, but the nearest sizes available at good prices are either 24" or 32". The guy in the shop even suggested that something around 40-50" would be better!

Is 24" too small nowadays for a living room TV? It seems decent, until it's placed next to a 32/42/50" monster and then it just looks a bit pathetic.
