Imagine you have a lorry on giant scales that are weighing it, and in the back of that lorry is a bird - the bird is flying, not touching anything, basically hovering in the back of a closed lorry. Am I right in saying that the weight of the bird would still contribute to the weight on the scales?

If so, can someone explain please?
