here are imo the main contenders:
NOVAK DJOKOVIC was playing really well then injured his wrist in Monte Carlo, now back and playing really well again. he IS the best player in the world at the moment and it's insane that he doesn't hold a slam.
RAFA NADAL has been a bit crap but still battling his way to finals. must be the first time in years he isn't bookies favourite. still not sure who could beat him other than Djokovic? makes it interesting at least.
STAN WAWRINKA has backed up his slam with his first masters title, still in really good form. if he gets past GGL in round 1 then he doesn't have the worst draw.
ROGER FEDERER has given birth via his wife to another set of twins aww. has an easy enough path to the semi final but hard to see him touching either of the top 2.

SERENA WILLIAMS yeah keeps winning stuff. is 53-2 on clay in the last 2 years now. was carrying a thigh injury but don't think that's bothering her too much now?
SIMONA HALEP is a top 4 player now, is well suited to clay and has an open draw. hasn't really made a big impact at slams yet but she's clearly good enough. chance for her to make a deep run at least.
LI NA has been pretty up and down as usual. man i hope she wins this aswell. could easily lose early too.
MARIA SHARAPOVA has been irrelevant for months and then decided to turn up for the clay season. ended up getting drawn in Serena's quarter uuuunllllucckkkyyy. more likely to beat her again in a QF than a final i guess though.
