Somewhat naive IT Question (Oh Theeeeeoooo!)
Hello.
I have just bought a beautiful new laptop, and have started to selectively transfer all the crap I've accumulated over 8 years on my old one.
I have a lot of music and photos, and as I have a hi-fi and still buy actual physical stuff, I pretty much only use the digital stuff on the move. But I still like having everything there at the touch of my fingertips, to be loaded onto an mp3 player or to take with me on my laptop.
My question is thus: what are my best options to avoid clogging up my new laptop with all my music which is actually pretty rarely used and to store it somewhere where it remains easy to access. I've had bad experiences with external hard drives and backup disks, so was looking at some kind of cloud storage account, but it doesn't seem that easy to keep stuff ONLY in the cloud, unless I'm misreading.
My other thought was external wireless hard-drives, or things like the AirPort. But if I understand right you have to wire into the specific wireless network for the hard drive and disconnect from your own wi-fi in order to use the thing, which isn't ideal.
