We've discovered a sizeable wasps' nest in the roof above the downstairs bathroom. Who's responsible for paying for it to be removed - us (the tenants) or the landlord? Council will charge about £50.

Nothing in our contract about pests and the general consensus from the internet seems to be it's our responsibility, but my housemate insists it should be the landlord and found some stuff on the Shelter website suggesting this. We've been in the house since August so hard to prove either way whether it was there when we moved in or not...

Anyone been in a similar situation and have some advice?
