I joined a "social" group on there because they have a weekly games night and now I'm getting spammed with invitations for country walks, karaoke nights, bowling, movie nights and coffee mornings and I'm worried that I've inadvertently joined a cult.

Are online platonic meeting things like this a bit needy or a natural progression from dating sites?
