Cops with Cameras
Do we need them?
Government's spending just short of a million quid on fitting policeman with cameras.
They'll be expected to turn them everywhere they're called and each incident they're involved in and the footage can be used as evidence in court.
Good Points - Easier to get evidence to bang up the wrong 'uns, Transparency
Bad Points - Cops don't have them on all the time (true transparency?), Does video evidence of a cop turning up after a crime only reflect all sides of a story? And are we heading towards a surveillance state?
What does everyone reckon? Would you feel safer if a policeman approached you and started filming without your permission etc?
