A thread for cataloging all the interesting, enjoyable, or simply strange people that you've encountered in your day to day lives.

I met a train driver while on holiday last week. Lovely bloke, really liked him. Everything he said was just slightly weird though. He was sort of David Brentesque, like he didn't have a switch between thinking things and saying them. Some of my favourites:

Him: Whereabouts do you live?
Me: London, how about you?
Him: Oh, a little town, quite near London. You probably won't have heard of it.
Me: What's it called?
Him: Reading.

He went on to tell me that Reading hosts a small festival each year, for music.

Some other classics:

On trains: "I like driving the trains, yeah, I keep myself entertained. Sometimes I think, I'm going to make this stop as smooth as possible." (I love the implication that most of the time he's like, fuck it, let's throw the bastards around.

"I wouldn't want to hit a cow. Much heavier than you'd think. I'd be under the second man's seat for sure."

On food:

"I'm vegetarian. I don't eat meat or fish. What food gets me excited? Eggs, I suppose."

On TV:

"I don't really watch TV, except sports. I do like adult cartoons though [I think he meant Family Guy rather than hentai]. I hate reality shows. Have you seen The Call Centre? That's brilliant."
