I just saw this today and absolutely loved it. Surprised to see it had a fairly negative reaction from critics and the public. Even if you don't like the result, the spectacle of it is pretty undeniably awesome. Personally, I thought it was absolutely pitch-perfect and an astonishing performance from Phoenix.

Just really great to see an actor with so much to lose commit so much to such an ambitious project. And it really could have all blown up in his face, but he followed it with two critically-acclaimed central performances.

What a guy.
