My mum used to cut my hair so I didn't go to a hairdresser for the first 11-12 years of my life.
Then during my uni days I had long hair - no hairdresser/barber for maybe 2-3 years.
Skinhead/shave head era - no hairdresser/barber for maybe 2-3 years.
Now get my wife to cut it - approx last two years.

If anyone is interested I might turn this into a book? Maybe a film?
