Touring bands used their entire UK tour as basically a warm up for the London date where they would make more effort and do it 'properly'.

If a band plays three nights in a row at the same venue you should go on the last night because they'll be settled in by then, and if they were going to do anything stupid/exciting (smash their equipment, climb lighting rigs etc) they'd only do it on the last night.
