Film of the year for every year you've been alive!
Inspired by the AOTY thread on the music boards and using the same basic set up, so it doesn't have to be what you watched then but could be what you love now from that time. Personally I found this so much harder than albums! Fun yet very tough to do.
Anyway, here goes:
 Zelig (Woody Allen)
 Ghostbusters (Ivan Reitman)
Back to the Future (Robert Zemeckis)
 Sherman's March (Ross McElwee)
 Full Metal Jacket (Stanley Kubrick)
Distant Voices, Still Lives (Terence Davies)
 Vampire's Kiss (Robert Bierman)
 Goodfellas (Martin Scorsese)
Barton Fink (Joel Coen, Ethan Coen)
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (David Lynch)
 Jurassic Park (Steven Spielberg)
 Pulp Fiction (Quentin Tarantino)
 Toy Story (John Lasseter)
 Independence Day (Roland Emmerich)
Con Air (Simon West) & Face/Off (John Woo) - Nicolas Cage double bill
 Rushmore (Wes Anderson)
The Thin Red Line (Terrance Malick)
The Gleaners and I (Agnès Varda)
 Mulholland Dr (David Lynch)
 Adaptation (Spike Jonze)
The Five Obstructions / Dogville (Lars Von Trier)
 Uzak (Nuri Bilge Ceylan)
 Hidden (Michael Haneke)
 Grizzly Man (Werner Herzog)
 My Winnipeg (Guy Maddin)
There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson)
 Synecdoche, New York (Charlie Kaufman)
 Le Quattro Volte (Michelangelo Frammartino)
 A Separation (Asghar Farhadi)
 Holy Motors (Leos Carax)
It’s Such a Beautiful Day (Don Hertzfeldt)
Obviously I included some films I loved from the time that I thought where incredible at the time, hello 1996 and (un)luckily Prince of Thieves didn't make it into 91. My love for Sherman's March means no room for Blue Velvet, Toy Story kinda represents Up and Ratatouille as well (cheating). Not enough Coen brothers or Herzog in there for my liking, plus i'm missing This Is Spinal Tap for Ghostbusters, and Harry Met Sally for the undisputed masterpeice that is Vampire's Kiss. To my sins I am leaving Shoah off for Back to the Future. Also gutted to not find space for Silent Light, Sleep Furiously, Reservoir Dogs, Tropical Malady, 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days, The Master, Eternal Sunshine, In The Mood For Love, and many many others, but what can you....just list them underneath anyway!
Good luck anyone who gives this a go...
