If nothing else, the increase in the tax-free allowance is very welcome. Much, much better than Labour's approach of taxing to the hilt and making people claim their money back via a series of complex tax credits - all of which requires an army of bureaucrats employed at the public's expense to adminster. The Tories' approach cuts out the middle man, requires no extra red tape, and puts money directly and instantly in the pockets of the worker. Wonderful.
