How do you watch telly?
The BBC3 thread got me confused and thinking about how we actually "consume" TV these days. The thought of an online-only channel is baffling because, to me, watching television involves sitting on my settee and staring at the box in the corner of the room flicking between whatever's on, watching what I've sky+d or switching over to the PS3/Apple TV channel and streaming from my computer or watching netflix. It had never occurred to me that people might just watch things on their laptops or tablets and in fact I find the whole process of doing so a bit reclusive, extremely frustrating and generally lacking because of screen size and sound quality.
So, who does what? Is it like me with a big telly and countless opportunities to do other stuff at the same time whilst my girlfriend watched endless Great British Bake Off repeats? Or do you sit in a darkened room fumbling between channels on the TVCatchup or Sky Go apps on your 5 inch Samsung Galaxy, cursing when your battery runs out after only 20 minutes of the Hollyoaks omnibus? If you watch stuff on a laptop or desktop, do you live by yourself and, if so, do you only watch the laptop because you don't have a separate living room or not enough space?
