Hello geeks,

I know all this 'desktop computers have had it' stuff is all the rage at the moment but I need to get a new one, mostly for general officey things but would be nice to have something that wouldn't be completely outdated next week and could maybe stretch to some reasonable gaming.

I'm not stupid enough to go to PC World but not quite up to speed enough to spec out a machine. I need to know about processors and graphics cards and all that stuff.

Budget is ideally about £500 but possibly up to £700 tops.

PC, not Mac.

I'm not going to build it myself, regardless of how much cheaper that may work out.
