if a film is touted for/receives an oscar does it make you more inclined to watch it?

similarly if an artist you aren't into receives a grammy/brit award would it make you want to check them out?

personally i couldn't give a fuck, and find it weird that so much prestige is given to them, seemingly not just by the press too
