2014 Cycling thread (the pre-Classics part)
2014 season has begun! As is customary, it's the Tour Down Under and Tour de San Luis that kick things off, with many of the riders looking at the Giro d'Italia featuring.
Simon Gerrans won the Tour Down Under to go with his national road championship. Cadel Evans and Richie Porte both win a stage, so it's looking good for Aussie riders. Andre Greipel wins a couple of the sprints, while Marcel Kittel took the one-day People's Choice Classic before the tour began - goes to show the big sprinters in 2013 are in form again.
Over in Argentina, the Tour de San Luis looks to be going to Nairo Quintana. But the big news is the behaviour of local team Buenos Aires Provincia. First, one of their riders punches Lotto Belisol's Kenny De Haes, and now one their team cars has hit Tyler Farrar. On top of that, there are stories of cars and motorbikes giving local GC riders a push on the climbs. If true, there'll be less World Tour teams here next year.
