what do you do when people are blatantly taking advantage of you?
bit of a long story...2.5 years ago I agreed to be treasurer for local preschool. My youngest just started there (eldest just left) but he hated it so never went but I carried on being treasurer and on committee helping out at bazaars and suchlike just to be community spirited.
The Chair is terribly unorganised, the committee has for the last few years basically been us two - despite me constantly saying we need more involved.
Anyway, at start of last summer I told her she would need to find someone else as I was giving up childminding to work fulltime. She didn't so I said OK (as I hadn't got job yet) I would do it util Oct. Then I got a fulltime job which means I can't get to the accountant/bank/nursery so i wrote a formal letter giving notice that I would no longer be treasurer after Christmas (at this point the nursery manager is counting up the fee money and paying it in herself which I am really not happy about as obviously all still in my name - although I do trust her).
Get to now and still they claim that no-one else from the entire parents of 90odd kids who attend the nursery will do it, or they don't trust the ones who will.
Chair reckons her sister will take it over and was supposed to come last week to sort but then made up some excuse...
Feel like they are really taking advantage of my good nature. Would I be in my rights to just give them all the stuff back, ring the bank/accountant/payroll man say I'm not doing it any more and leave it with them?
