i'm moving into a new flat with my girlfriend.
lettings agents charged us £108 each to have our references checked with an external company, "maras"
figured that that's the sort of shite that happens, paid it.
my references came back fine, but my girlfriend, for her current landlord reference, put down the name and details of - get this - her current landlord.
however, cos she sublets the place from someone who rents it from the landlord, the landlord says they cant give a reference.
so we figure sod it, need to move in, just give her dad's details as a guarantor.
now they want another £108 to check the dad's references.

should we pay that? seems like utter fucking bullshit. when we last paid for her references, they didnt even manage to get a reply from the original landlord we listed, but still came back to us saying that the landlord had replied that she didnt pay her rent. really hate these fucking shit arseholes and really dont want to give them a further £108 for fuck all
