Boxing Day Football Thread.
Probably one of the best football days of the year all things considered. Either going to a game (crisp weather, festive cheer) or on the sofa (mince pies, turkey sandwiches and booze).
With 2 points separating the top 5 in the league (must be closest separating top 5 at Xmas Day, in like, forever), all 20 teams play in the Premier. Early kickoff is Hull v United. Sounds like Vidic and Carrick should be back for United. I think United should go:
DDG / Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra / Valencia, Cleverly, Carrick, Januzaj / Rooney / Welbeck.
Hull will presumably just play 3-5-2/5-3-2, depending on how deep El-Mohamadi and Figueroa play on the flanks. 0-2 I reckon, Hull don't concede many at home but the only top half team they've played at home has been Liverpool, who had a total off day.
Pick of the day is obviously City v Liverpool. City have been in rampaging form at home, 22 goals in their last 4 home league games is outrageous. No Aguero or Nastasic for City, but I still fancy them to have too much firepower for Liverpool at Middle Eastlands.
Not too much value going on match odds in the Premier League tomorrow, but I'm tempted to lay Villa at evens on Betfair. Palace had been going on a good run before the Newcastle game and I think they might be able to get at least a draw. Palace 9/4 Draw No Bet (also Betfair).
Aldershot have got Forest Green tomorrow away. We've been going on a great run recently and the 6-0 win at home to Tamworth saw an unparalleled performance of verve and flair, maybe only comparable with the Brazil 1970 side. But FGR are great at home, whilst we've only scored 5 of our 34 league goals away from the Rec. Think we'll lose a high scoring one, maybe 3-2.
Who have your team got / How do you think it'll go / What bets are you putting on yadda yadda yadda...
