But I wondered why/how a judge even allows the mental amount of personal attacks and revelations going on which the papers are all screaming over.

I don't get how it can even be slightly allowed. They took the money or they didn't. I know, obviously, that Saatchi wants a smear campaign working in his favour but surely there's a judge telling people to stay on a strict line of questioning? No?
