So, my faithful laptop of 4 years is finally on its last legs, so looking for a new laptop / software / interface setup to record an electric (and perhaps upright too) piano, along with a bit of photo editing, storing music, mucking around on the Internet etc too.

Any suggestions for hardware/software/interfaces? I have previously used an old Dell with Cubase and a battered mbox, but very open to any suggestions...

Budget c£1k, but could be flexible on this.
