That Sainsbury's advert, where the dad comes home from the army
to the surprise and delight of the cute children.
Presumably these things take a bit of planning and the mother would have known he was coming back for at least a few days.
So, am I wrong in thinking she's a bit of a wrong 'un for letting her kids go to bed not knowing that their dad was on his way home. Every night she knew and they didn't is a night they would have been worrying that he was going to die.
I disapprove of the dramatisation of military homecomings. There, I've said it.
But I guess it's a popular sentiment at the moment and brands love a narrative like that, so it's all good.
