This story about a girl throwing a baby from a balcony (I don't believe this!)
someone on here a few weeks back remarked that there appeared to be a lot of anti-China stories floating about.
Child flushed down toilet
Man sues wife for being ugly (no actual pics)
Child run over and left in street to die.
There's a new one, the daily mail are reporting it, but it's well suspicious.
Conflicting accounts of whether the baby is dead or survived
Conflicting timeline - the baby's parents have sued vs 'this just happened'.
To the casual observer, the story has the hallmarks of legitimacy - video, quotes, timeline, witnesses
But, every avenue possible that allows you to view the video is closed. The closest I got was on the DM, where they show a clip of a child in a lift, but then a message appears saying "we're not showing you the rest, it's some grim shit."
Now, I'm cynical by nature and it's not that I want to see the video of a child being thrown off a balcony, but I'm alarmed that there is no actual proof that this happened.
Maybe I'm not digging deep enough, but I'm just very suspicious. One website put every possible barrier between me and the story (sign up to read more, click link, slow-loading pages - the opposite of what a reader journey should be). It's as if I was just supposed to see the headline and then be on my way, taking with me the lead message of 'China/Children are evil'.
It's all a bit "foxes are getting into our houses and trying to eat our kids" type hype.
Before anyone has a beef at me, I clicked the DM link because it was the only page in my Google search that I knew.
Am I being mental?
