NFL WEEK 12; QUARTERBACK SLOBBERKNOCKER
So tonight sees the biggest quarterback rivalry in the modern era re-ignite once again, not that anyone will watch it because it clashes with Survivor Series...
6PM, SKY SPORTS
NEW YORK JETS (5-5) @ BALTIMORE RAVENS (4-6)
Two maddeningly inconsistent teams who both still have a real chance at the playoffs face off at MT&T in a pretty important game for all involved. It won't be as classy as the main event later on tonight, but there should be some fun stuff happening, like THE RETURN OF ED REED & REX RYAN. These two are fairly similar in terms of strengths(?) and weaknesses(!) so it should be a pretty close game, going with home advantage (by 3)
9:25PM, SKY SPORTS
DALLAS COWBOYS (5-5) @ NEW YORK GIANTS (4-6)
The New York Football Giants are on a roll, 4 to be precise, and now get an inconsistent division rival to play with at the Meadowlands. Going from one of the worst starts (teams) ever at the beginning of the season, the G-men's defence has stepped up BIG recently, now a game off the division lead, and should be able to get to Romo often. Expect a high-scorer. (NYG by 4-5)
1:30AM, CHANNEL 4
DENVER BRONCOS (9-1) @ NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (7-3)
And fighting for the WWE title tonight... Peyton "Mad Man" Manning and Tom "Pretty Boy" Brady. I mean, err, football. The most storied quarterback rivalry enters yet another (14th) chapter, with Peyton's Broncos clear favourites, but I wouldn't count out the Patriots. The Broncos' only defeat this year came in the equally significant prime-time match away to his old Colts. This match has a similar grandioseness; The Broncos are away again, this time in the cold of New England, against one of the best QB's in the league. Brady has the advantage head-to-head (9-4) and Peyton has a terrible habit of under-performing at these big games, not to mention that the Patriots more or less have a fully healthy squad (on offence, the lack of Vince Wilfork is killing their rush defence) and are coming off a humbling loss to Carolina. Brady will have to be quick to outwit the Broncos' rush, but it's nothing he hasn't dealt with before (NE by 4-5)
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, 1:40AM, EUROSPORT
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (6-4) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-7)
The Niners have been very disappointing this year, but that's nothing compared to the horrow-show happening once again in Washington. The Skins' will be back (possibly with a new name) but they look done this season, with a horrendous defence and RGIII struggling, so this should be fairly comfortable for San Fran (SF by 7)
THE REST:
PITTSBURGH STEELERS (4-6) @ CLEVELAND BROWNS (4-6) - The AFC North this year man... geez. Pittsburgh look good again, coming off an impressive win (Jim Schwartz brain-fart aside) against the Lions. Now they travel to the always hilarious Browns who have flirted with success this year but look like their returning back to orbit now. Chance of Snow in Ohio too. (PIT BY 4-5)
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (2-8) @ DETRIOT LIONS (6-4) - The Bucs have looked a new team under Mike Glennon, winning their past two in a row to salvage their previously embarrassing season somewhat, and though that good form should continue, don't expect anything away at a pissed off Lions squad. (DET by 4-5)
MINNESOTA VIKINGS (2-8) @ GREEN BAY PACKERS (5-5) - If Minnie are ever going to get one-up on their division rivals, today is probably their best chance. Scott Tolzien hasn't been un-terrible but he has largely no-one left to throw to in a injury ravaged offensive corps (expect a BIG day for Eddy Lacy) and a sub-standard defence. The Vikings are done for the year, but it would be nice for them to beat a division rival, and AP usually goes off against Green Bay, so expect a lot of running basically. (GB by 3)
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (1-9) @ HOUSTON TEXANS (2-8) - The tiny feel good factor the Jags may have felt from actually winning a game was quickly snapped against Arizona last weekend, but no one really expected division rivals Houston to be at the wrong end of the table (well, right for draft picks) with them. This will be a messy one, sufficient to both these teams seasons' with not much scoring at all, and probably the best opportunity for the Jags to get a rare win, but it's hard to see Houston falling that far...? (HOU by 4-5)
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (4-6) @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (9-1) - Same old San Diego, whenever they start to put something together they take two steps back. Don't expect much from them away to a humbled Kansas who fell off their perch at the top to Denver last weekend. Expect the D to demolish Rivers & co. (KC by 3)
CAROLINA PANTHERS (7-3) @ MIAMI DOLPHINS (5-5) - Miami beat San Diego last week, meaning the off-the-field car crash of the Dolphins hasn't effected them too badly (or the Bolts suck, I dunno) but they will be hard pressed against a nearby Carolina, who are on an incredible run of form right now, impressing everyone in defeating New England on Monday, so expect it to continue, the Panthers are on their way to the playoffs! (CAR by 4-5)
CHICAGO BEARS (6-4) @ ST. LOUIS RAMS (4-6) - The Josh McClown led Bears came off a hard-fought win in the EXTREMELY windy city in overtime last week, and should be able to build on that away to an inconsistent Rams. (CHI by 4-5)
LATES:
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (7-3) @ ARIZONA CARDINALS (6-4) - The Cardinals are quietly having a fantastic year, performing in an incredibly tough NFC West. I feel they may pull a fast one of the Colts today at home, with Carlson Palmer (lol) on a great run of form and a tough, tough defence. Luck will have to be at his best, but there's only so much he can do when he has no one to throw to. (ARI by 3)
TENNESSEE TITANS (4-6) @ OAKLAND RAIDERS (4-6) - Their records don't lie, they have had messy seasons, but not without hope. The Titans D has been excellent, back-up Ryan Fitzpatrick, not-so much. Meanwhile, the Raiders have no D but a very strong back-up QB in Matt McGloin who decimated Houston last week, something will have to give! (OAK by 3)
And that's yer lot folks. What are we all looking forward to? I know this isn't the fantasy thread but i'd just like it to be known that don't read my PMs. I mean, I brought Case Keenum in for the injured Matt Pryor, so Matty "Ice" Ryan went into the starting spot, and played a shitter on Thursday, hope this doesn't come back to bite me (definitely will)
