does anyone have any experience of this? it doesn't seem like the sort of thing that can end well, except maybe in the most transparent of places?

i'm sure 99.9% of it isn't Edward Snowden esque, but i'd be interested in hearing some stories, if you've done it, seen it, or heck, even had it done to you and what happened

(full disclosure: i've no intention of being a whistleblower about anything right now, but i think it's a valuable principle)
