Thursday Gaming Thread
Hello. I haven't played anything this week really, but it is the DOTA2 International, which I have been watching.
The level of skill is pretty incredible, they play the game in a way that is almost unrecognisable to the matches that i've played myself, and I guess this is how it feels to watch professional Football, Tennis, Snooker, sports which I appreciate but rarely bother watching and don't understand the intricacies of high level play (never been a big sportsguyer really)
So last night it was Na'Vi versus Orange and it ended 2-1, with Na'Vi winning with a ruthlessly efficient Puck/Lifestealer combo. It's so hard to process what happens during the teamfights, but the ability for the players to do everything they are doing with such precision is incredible to watch. As an eSport, DOTA makes more sense than something like CoD to me because of the level of strategy and forethought that goes into the picking of teams (and the banning of heroes at the same time) with multiple routes to victory that extend beyond just killing more guys. The prize for the first place team is $1.4 million, so it's serious business.
So, what have you been playing, and what do you think of eSports? Would you ever watch a pro game for pleasure?
