Does this exist?

I remember as a kid being well aware of there being one day a year when my home town was swarming in the fuckers. It was common knowledge among my peers that these were a genetic one off from ant colonies that were produced and deployed on a single day of the year to make new nests.

I don't remember ever experiencing it in teenage or adult years and promptly forgot all about it.

Now today the sun has come out down here and the little fuckers are everywhere. My place has an intermittent ant problem and I've been in the garden, surrounded by little things which look like ants, except they've got wings. They're not very good at flying and have been flying in to me in a really pathetic and annoying fashion.
