LEGO: The Movie

Aside from the fact that basing a film on a toy is fucking ridiculous and stupid and nothing good ever comes of it, that the music on this trailer is truly hideous, and that this is a film for small children, I'm nonetheless struck by the creeping realisation that this film might actually be good, in a superior silly kids film kind of way. PROS: it has Andy from Parks and Rec basically laying Andy; Will Arnett is Batman; the rest of the voice cast includes Will Ferrell, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day and Morgan Freeman; the animation looks pleasingly retro; the directors just came off making the far better than it had any right to be 21 Jump Street AND they created Clone High; the co-director worked on Adult Swim classic Moral Orel; it would appear that they have created a pointless little story on which to hang a series of silly set pieces. And, that shitty trailer music will be replaced in the film by a Mark Mothersbaugh score. So, yeah. Awful realisation that I will probably actually leave my house to see this.
