America considers gay marriage
I know you guys, Brits, recently had a big gay-politic thing yourselves. Honestly, I didn't follow the story through.
In any event, the US Supreme Court is debating Calif's Prop 8 -- no to marriage -- and DOMA -- the Marriage Act which prohibits federal recognition of gay marriage.
So, yeah, gay marriage. Let me start with my entire world mantra is LIVE AND LET LIVE. I respect your 3 feet of personal space, and you respect mine.
It seems almost so self-evident that I can't believe any triple-digit IQ wouldn't go along with this.
And yet. It is kinda weird to imagine Mr and Mr Smith as the married couple next door.
Luckily, if that comes up I have my world mantra to guide me. And I won't bore you with my good gal-pal is hooked up with transgender man. It's kinda weird and it's nothing on me except that I wish them well... So that's *my* position on the subject.
Live and let live.
The U.S. Supreme Court has a history of being chickenshit. Waiting till public opinion sways so far in the direction of decent courtesy to people not-like-us before nodding with the defendant.
I wish this site still had the Anonymous Reply option to respond. I remember after seeing ... ah, shit his name has gone outta my head... famous indie artist who's gay yadda yadda... and outside the venue I run into at least two groups of indie kids who denounce Prop 8. At the time when Calif was voting on it. And here me: I was dead sure every skinny kid with goofy pants and goofy haircut was a diehard liberal.
Anyway. OK. Weigh in or don't. But, LIVE AND LET LIVE, it's a pretty big deal, eh.
