6 Nations review and Lions 2013 discussion
So a pretty attritional and weather dominated six nations was began and ended by two of the best games in years. Wales thump England to steal the title for the 2nd year on the bounce.
My review of each team
Wales: After a shocking 1st 45 minutes against Ireland, Wales were tremendous. That display against England was the best I have ever seen them play
England: A superb start v Scotland and some ground out wins v Ireland and France. Lack of mental strength in the cauldron of Cardiff cost them, plus zero creativity in the three quarters is a real worry
Scotland: More positives than negatives. Looked brilliant in phases against Italy and England. Out muscled by Wales, lucky against Ireland. A strong performance from their back three and back row
Italy: No longer the whipping boys. Beat France and Ireland, should have beaten England. Parisse and their blind side Alessandro Zanni were tremendous. Hopefully they'll push on
Ireland: Disappointing after winning the first game. Injuries decimated them, but if you look again at the Wales game, they flattered to deceive. Kidney needs to go
France: Unbelievable given the depth of talent and money available. Consistently picking a scrum half at 10, the worlds best centre on the wing can't help, but their coaches need to take a long hard look.
