You guys are always very good with travel tips, and when I had asked previously in regards to a trip to Japan I was recommended lots of great things that weren't in any guide books or anything, so am hoping for a repeat here, if at all possible.

Myself and my soon to be wife are going interrailing around Europe followed by the Trans Mongolian express for our honeymoon. We've got a few ideas of places we want to go, but was wondering if anybody had any good tips or experiences they would like to share. I've looked at Man In Seat 61 etc but always find the best advice tends to come from anecdotal sources.

So:

Anybody done it? *awaits ‘what, your mum response?’*
Train Passes – did you bother with one? If not, why? If so, good value?
Anyone done the Trans Mongolian Express before? How was 11 days on the train? Any ideas for places to buy it rather than through an agency with a decent markup?
Any places in Europe that are worth a visit that aren't traditional tourist destinations?

Etc etc.
