Going for 2 weeks in March. Vague plan is Tokyo, Kyoto (and surrounds), Osaka and Hiroshima.

Can I have your helpful advice and recommendations please? Including decent hostels/hotels, things to do, overrated things to avoid, good bars, nightclubs, gig venues in any of the above areas.

I also want to fit in 2 or 3 nights somewhere rural, non touristy, and preferably mountainous. Stay in a Ryokan, enjoy the scenery, maybe go walking/hiking etc. Will have a JR pass.
