I spent about an hour yesterday setting up widgets on my phone that allow me to use it to launch Spotify on my laptop, play, pause, skip forward and back, control the volume etc.

My living room is maybe, MAYBE 10 feet across. I can't hear anything playing on my laptop if I'm in another room.

What ridiculously pointless technology fiddling have you engaged in recently (or not so recently)?
