Mainstream video games peaked at around 2000-2005
After a 3 hour Rayman 3 sesh at my friends house, I have definitely come to the agreement that mainstream video games were a lot better in the early 2000's. Back then there were so many awesome games & franchises that are either nowhere to be seen today or just faded from popularity: Burnout, SSX, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro (yeah that stopped being good after the third one but whatever), Jak & Daxter, Rayman, Gran Turismo, Crazy Taxi and so many more. Nowadays all that seems to get any media attention is awful first person shooters, shit fantasy fare (elder scrolls etc) and just plain bollocks. Even the racing games these days aren't what they used to be. Anyone else agree with me? Or am I just an out of touch loser pining for the things he enjoyed as a child?
