Background; A mate has tipped me off about a job that I would LOVE but have no professional experience or qualifications for beyond it being a lifelong hobby. The company in question is having trouble finding someone so I thought I might chance my arm, make up a reference and some experience and that.

The only real sticking point is the software this company use but that can't take more than a week or two to get up to speed on right?
