not really good pals, as that's just plain rude, but people you know quite well/work colleagues etc.

I do this quite a lot. I'm generally a pretty sociable guy, but I find myself more and more avoiding pointless human interaction - especially when on the hoof.

I'll actively cross the road, or if they're pretty close, I'll just look at the floor til I'm back into the safe zone
