I can't really get my head around it. I realise pop fans (and people generally) have always had their oddities, like thinking Paul McCartney died or whatever, but this just seems symptomatic of something else. If people are just writing stories and imagining these bizarre situations, then fair enough, it's not doing anyone any harm. But thousands seem to actively believe it in conspiratorial ways. That's just disturbing:
