what constitutes an indecent image? (Paedo/Law-Centric)
So this guy who I'd been working with for a few months on a work project suddenly vanished from work 2 weeks ago. No handover, no word of where he'd gone, no goodbyes no messages, nothing. Last 2 weeks there's been rumours flying round but no-one had a clue why he'd left.
Then today an article in the local newspaper showed up and it turns out he's been done for "possession of over 600 indecent photos and videos of young boys...including 11 charges of making an indecent photo of a child". He's been given a 3 year suspended sentence and 200 hours community work.
So it begs the question what actually is an indecent image? Does a child instantly become an adult on their 16th birthday, and therefore become 'fair game' for pornography?
What age does a child have to be before their innocent nude photos become 'provocative' filth?
And what happens if someone's trawling the internet for young boys or girls and happens upon a site hosting underage videos... does that person become an accomplice? Is there any argument for not realizing they're underage?
And another question...Is a suspended sentence and community service an apt punishment for someone who willfully corrupts a child? Glitter only got 4 months
