Sofa delivery fun & games
Bloody amazing day I've had. After about 4 weeks of waiting, SCS called yesterday to say our sofas are ready to be delivered today. What joy. I quickly offloaded our old tatty ones on freecycle, even gave the carpet a clean while the room was empty. They turn up, a couple of miserable Welsh drivers, after one try say "not 'appenin mate". I cajole them into at least trying a few more times which they did (and did actually start trying to be fair), I even removed the door and part of the bannister but it wasn't happening at all. Luckily a glazier was up the road, I ran up and asked if he could take my window out of the frame (for a bit of cash in hand). He came down, started chipping away with a chisel, I felt a sense of relief. He however also started murmuring about beading and not being able to get seals off. Turns out the window is so old the seal starts to fuse to the plastic of the window so you can get it off, but it means replacing the window. The delivery men were useless, they got me to call the shop to find out what to do next. They now need to get an upholsterer (£130) to take it apart and come out to my house and put it back together again in the lounge. That or choose a new sofa, and I presume as they are "bespoke" (my arse, you choose from a book of about 6 fabrics, they only do a handful of sofas) there is a penalty involved also. FML.
So do yourselves a favour, don't go to SCS and fall for the sales patter and the 0% interest. Just sit on your tatty granny sofas and be happy.
