Tron: Legacy - thoughts?
Good:
The visuals. Wow. Great (for a bit) when it went all 3D in the Tron world too, meaning that the medium finally has an actual added benefit.
The music. Pretty damn funky, sporadically amazing.
Olivia Wilde. HOTT.
The Grid. Never looked so good. The initial games sequence in the closed off rooms was one of the best action scenes I've ever seen.
Homage to the original. The arcade looked great, the nod to the original lightcycle was beautiful, the line about 'the big door'... all perfectly realised.
CGI Bridges. Actually pretty good. Could mostly tell it was CGI as you'd expect but the nearest we've got to a true worthwhile CGI character yet I'd wager.
Bad:
The plot. Or lack of it. Felt like the script had been done in 20 minutes and lacked pacing and decent lines. Some real 'mitichlorine' / Matrix-exposition bullshit going on too.
Wussing out of showing Tron's face properly.
The feeling that despite this being a world where anything goes, it effectively boiled down to the original film being remade and tacking on an airborn flight fight scene. Could have pushed things more I reckon with a bit of imagination.
Michael Sheen's character and plot device. Oh dear.

Still, never thought I'd see it resurrected truth be told so as an old school fan of the original(s intent), I was pleased it at least wasn't totally terrible, and I really enjoyed large chunks of it when the cast shut up.
