Olden days Football was the best, wasn't it?

drakepress [Edit] [Delete] 20:14, 9 November '09

Just watching the Manchester United - Benfica European Cup 68 highlights and it's brilliant.

Here's what you just don't get anymore:

Charlton's ridiculous combover

The United players celebration for the first goal, which consists of some very fey running and skipping, before they all embrace like school girls.

Eusébio, who has a fantastic shot on goal saved by Stepney, actually goes up to Stepney and starts APPLAUDING the keeper's great save. The two wave at each other in mutual admiration. WHAT SPORTSMANSHIP.

The stiff upper-lip old-school commentator is wondrous:
"My oh my! How they cheered Kidd, the birthday boy!" It's like a bloody Enid Blyton story.

And George Best, of course.
